HARO Link Building

Get links and brand mentions from the World's most popular media outlets

Getting links from major publications like Forbes, Business Insider, Huff Post, USA Today and Cosmopolitan is hard!

Help A Reporter Out (HARO) connects journalists from major media outlets (like those above) with experts who can provide quotable insight.

It's an incredibly powerful way to build premium backlinks and get epic brand mentions.

The challenge is that it is very competitive

To succeed on HARO you need to:

  • Respond very quickly: Some requests receive over 200 responses. If you can't respond quickly (ideally within 30 minutes of the HARO notification) your pitch will be lost in the shear volume of responses that a journalist receives.
  • Provide compelling insight: Journalists are looking for relevant experts they can quote. This means your pitch needs to quickly demonstrate genuine expertise and include a short piece of copy (200 words max) that is uniquely insightful and relevant to their article topic.
  • Consistently pitch: It's no use doing a couple of random pitches every month and hoping for the best. Our research shows that on average only 15-20% of pitches get used and include a link. This means for every 10 pitches you can expect at least 1 link. Doesn't sound much! But that's one link from a major publication like The Washington Post!

At Tasket, our highly trained team of outreach experts do all the heavy lifting for you.

Each day we check HARO for relevant requests and then craft engaging pitches in your voice.

Our proven method takes the guess work out of HARO link building by following the core principles set out above: speed, expert insight and consistency.

How It Works

1. Pick a plan

Review our HARO packages below. Pick a plan that works for you and checkout.

2. Onboarding call and setup

We will schedule an onboarding call to learn about your brand and industry. To get setup we'll need access to one of your corporate email accounts, your profile details as the expert and social media links.

3. Let the pitching begin

Every week day (Monday-Friday) your account manager will check the daily HARO notifications, filter for relevancy and craft compelling pitches in your voice, from your corporate account.

4. Monthly report

At the end of the month we'll send you a report of all the pitches we sent and any links that were secured.

If after reading our FAQs you still have questions, feel free to schedule a call.

Do you pitch from my email account or yours?

For the best results we require access to a corporate email account on your domain. This can either be your personal account (although not recommended) or a generic account (like info@yourdomain.com). Alternatively, some of our clients have setup an email account specifically for HARO pitches (for example, yourname01@yourdomain.com). Your account manager will monitor this email every day and craft pitches directly from it.

What other information do you need to get started

After signing up to our service we will arrange an onboarding call to discuss your brand and industry. You can share important or specific information about your services or products, and we will compliment this with desk research so that we have a good understanding of who you are and your industry. This allows us to find relevant angles when we pitch to requests.

We will also get some top-line facts on you as the "expert". For example, your eduction, experience, basic background etc. If we can work this information into the pitch to establish your expertise we usually do.

Do you guarantee links?

Yes. Although we have no control over the links or whether a journalist decides to quote us, we do guarantee that we will keep pitching until we achieve the minimum link acquisition as follows: Start Plan (at least 1 x DR60+ link), Grow Plan (at least 2 x DR60+ links) and Scale Plan (at least 3 x DR60+ links). In our experience, the average link acquisition per pitch is 15-20%. So for every 10 pitches you should get at least 1 link. If we fail to get the minimum number of links based on your package, we'll continue pitching until we do.

Are the links dofollow?

Again, it varies. Sometimes they are, but often they are nofollow. The journalists we're pitching to write for major publications, many of which default external links to nofollow. We have no control over the links. But what I can say is a nofollow link from a leading publication like Forbes is in our estimation very valuable for SEO, referral traffic, social signals and brand presence.

Can I choose the anchor text?

No. Again, we have no control over the links. 99% of the time the link will be to your homepage on your brand name. Sometimes publications mention the brand but don't link out. Unfortunately we have no control over this.

Can I get an inner page link?

No. As with the anchor text, we don't have any control over where the links points, but almost invariably it will point to your website's homepage and be placed on your brand name anchor.
